why should I meditate?
Because it works, it's convenient and is so simple even your old grandpa could do it.
easy to learn
Whether you've never meditated before, or you're a total guru, Mind Mechanic will tune into your life with a range of audio meditations, with option of an accompanying 360 immersive video (for those who like to watch).
master your own destiny
Well, maybe not quite yet, but we can teach you about mindfulness, help you sleep better, get a handle on your rage or other wayward emotions. The app can help you manage your stress and anxiety, increasing your perfomance at work or at play, boost your overall happiness and wellbeing.
for any occasion
All you need is around 10 minutes to take a meditation lesson, and with over 50 to choose from on launch (and many more still to come); we aim to have a meditation for every guy, no matter who you are or what your goal is.
why this app?
What makes Mind Mechanic different from the other meditation apps on the market?
Written by guys, for guys
It couldn't be any more masculine if we made this app from bits of wood and metal we found in a shed. Not only are the lessons structured in a way men can relate to, but we tackle subjects specific to men, and the stigma attached to mental wellbeing
360 video content
Men are usually visually orientated, so this app gives you an alternative to closing your eyes and going to your safe space. You can pick a wide range of 360 degree videos to lose yourself in. No extra equipment needed, but you can also use Google Cardbard goggles for complete 3D immersion, and to look like a lunatic on the train to work.
no pan pipes or whale songs
No need to get your chakras in a twist, this is the nuts and bolts of meditation apps. All lessons are in straightforward langauge, and have a scientific objective you can achieve.
Chibs Okereke is a mindfulness meditation teacher, an executive coach, and the man behind mind mechanic.
Mindfulness training changed Chibs’s life, and his mission is to bring that change to others. Coming from a Business and Organisational Psychology background (and being a stereotypical male!), it was important to him to follow the evidence, so he conducted his meditation teacher training at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, Centre for Mindfulness
He helps men get to the top of their game, without burning out, using a variety of scientifically-backed mindfulness tools.
The courses he is qualified to teach have over two decades of solid scientific research behind them.
Think you have an original question? Meh, probably not.. Check out these wise replies to see if they can help
Not likely, although it sure is a tasty beverage that’s great for your gut (once you get used to it). Beer and scotch are also very delicious.
The app is for smartphones and tablets. Download it free via the App Store (for Apple devices), or Google Play (Androids) for your Mind Mechanic fix.
Not at all! Sure, if you have some Google cardboard goggles handy, slap in your phone for a truly immersive experience. But feel free to just swipe at the screen and check out the exotic locations without looking like a nutter in public places
Relax un-bendy blokes. You can sit any old way, lie down or even stand to meditate with Mind Mechanic – just as long as you’re comfortable.
Er, no. Unless you want to. And if you do we won’t judge you. Whatever rocks your world and works for you.
Hell no! Unless you’re thinking about the kind of pussy who is tough as balls, relaxed AF and smashing life. Clint Eastwood and Wolverine meditate. Are they pussies?
Nope! While most people prefer to meditate with their eyes shut (especially if they’re doing a sleep meditation), for some guys it just doesn’t click which is why Mind Mechanic has the unique location setting. It means you can meditate while watching cool 360 immersive videos - perfect for the guy who can’t switch off (or who just wants to watch awesome stuff).
Sure, if you want to. We promise we won’t look. Just don’t drop your phone.
Mindful eating is a great way to manage your weight and connect with where your food’s coming from, but while you’re listening to the Mind Mechanic app it’s probably best to put the fork down given you’re going to be doing a fair bit of focused breathing and we don’t want you to choke.
Maybe! With a regular tune up from Mind Mechanic you’re a hell of a lot closer to being on your a-game with everything - including your love life. A car that’s driving well has more chance of someone wanting to ride shotgun, right?
It’s not essential although we HIGHLY recommend a daily tune up with Mind Mechanic so you can always be on your top form. If you can only manage a couple of times a week or less though don’t sweat it.
Sorry but we have dogs and cats to feed and have to earn a crust somehow, so not all the Mind Mechanic meditation lessons are free. To access more of our manly meditation goodness simply purchase individual meditations separately within the app. A small investment for boosting your health and happiness, you won’t regret it.
Not at all, simply change your settings and you’re back on audio only, my man. But make sure you at least check them out, they’re awesome.
